2013 Gartelmann Phillip Alexander

A Merlot dominant blend with the addition of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. A bright medium red hue in the glass, the nose shows some adept blending at play with each variety providing it's own mark. The Merlot gives a richness of plum fruit, Cabernet a leafy character and Petit Verdot freshly tilled earth.

The palate has leathery dark fruits on entry, with juicy acidity and crunchy tannins that take control of the mid palate with fleshier plum and blackberry filling out the wine. Oak adds spice and depth to finish.

A wine that will reward time in the cellar.
