Star Lane produce a consistently complex and age worthy Merlot that is worth seeking out.
There is plum, earth and graphite that grows in the glass with time; the wine is built around drying yet supportive tannins that are characteristic to Star Lane - deeply savoury but in balance with the concentrated wines they produce. There is bitter dark cocoa and an older world thread of charcuterie and earth on the mid to back palate before length is provided by driving acidity and impactful tannins, there is unsweetened liquorice strap when you look hard.
