A provocative name and a provocative wine. The nose has earthen plum with background spice before a palate that is anything but a shrinking violet. Merlot can sometimes lack concentration or mid palate, however this wine has it in spades. There is good balance between sweet primary fruit and an underlying savouriness; this combines with fine and drying tannin that shows coffee and earth before a finish that sees fruit and savoury impact in equal measure.
