This wine was produced in an era where some of Rosemount's premium wines came from the Mudgee region in NSW. Given this wines quality and propensity for age it's a pity we don't see current vintage versions of the classic Australian Shiraz Cabernet Blend.
The wine was produced from a low yielding vineyard and saw 100% new oak with a 50/50 blend between American and French. The resultant wine after 18 years is a testament to a great vineyard site and forward thinking winemaking.
The nose is delicate, with smokey oak and background blackberry and plum, the palate is decidedly medium bodied with a stalky and savoury core that benefits from a touch of peppermint to go along with dusty black fruits. An excellent mouthfeel with fading dark fruits and mint on the long and layered finish. A very enjoyable bottle.
