Tasting
The Wallace is a consistently good wine from the Barossa Valley that showcases Shiraz (80%) and Grenache (20%) as a combination. The 2010 is a deep red in colour and combines tarry cherry and plum with rose petal and lifted vanillin oak characters.
The wine carries it's alcohol well due to its savoury core of fine yet firm tannins around which the rest of the wine evolves. In terms of fruit there is blackberry and plum with oak giving subtle spice; The finish is clean and focussed showing some adept winemaking. At a fraction under $20 it's a bargain.
