A deep, glossy red that still has purple hues, the nose has a density of black plum with dark chocolate and fresh coffee tones. The plate is tight and even after 4 years in bottle has a foreboding line of tannin and acidity, a base from which black cherry and plum show themselves with an interjection of mocha. The finish is drying with a kirsh influence and a sappiness of dark berries. There is power to the wine, but it is hard to work out where this is headed.
