This is a different expression of McLaren Vale, it is layered, somewhat savoury and interjected by bramble and herb, whilst also showcasing textured fruit that grows across the palate.
The nose has undergrowth, blackberry and a touch of dark chocolate. The palate has an elegance to it, that doesn't mean it is subtle, the elegance is how the wine moves from fruit to oak, to savoury nuance all in the same breath. The finish has a litheness to it with plum like fruit accentuated by earth, coffee and a faint vanillin thread.
A very impressive effort here.
