2023 was a decidedly cold year across much of South Eastern Australia, which has created Chardonnay in particular that is elegant, restrained and bound to enjoy plenty of years in the cellar.
The 2023 from Sidewood is the most Chablis like release i remember enjoying for a while, it is more citrus and apple on the nose and palate, with stone fruits and mealy richness building with time. Acidity is crisp, steely and laden with citrus, giving the wine great texture and energy. The finish has an embellishment of spice and an understated lees impact with good length. One to put down for a few years.
